In this week’s newsletter you’ll find that we’ve already taken on board your comments and have introduced a new tips and tricks section to help you get the most out of Travelport Smartpoint. This will be in addition to our regular features giving details of how to register for upcoming training courses and free webinars; where you can have a quick refresher on our products or take the opportunity to gain a more in depth overview.
We hope that you managed to capitalize on what the popular press has termed “Sunshine Saturday” which occurred on 10th January this year. Travelport certainly noticed an upturn in bookings overall and you may find it interesting to compare our overall top destinations with your own bookings. During the Sunshine Saturday weekend Dubai was our top overseas destination for bookings made in the UK, followed by New York, Hong Kong, Paris and Amsterdam.
Simon Ferguson, Travelport’s Managing Director, UK and Ireland, said: “Sunshine Saturday was an unbelievably busy day for travel bookings from the UK this year and we saw a significant increase from last year’s figures. We believe this is due to the steady economic growth we are seeing in the UK and travellers booking holidays earlier to take full advantage of the January sale offers. I’m particularly pleased that Travelport’s own figures are so strong and that our customers in the UK have experienced such an upturn from last year.”
Finally a big thank you to all who voted for us in industry awards recently. We are delighted with our success in the Irish Travel Trade News awards where we were voted Best Technology Provider and Best Agent Supplier Team. Our UK team has also been awarded Best Technological Innovation for Travelport’s Travel Commerce Platform at the Travolution awards.
It’s great to have our efforts recognized by the Travel Industry and rest assured we will continue to work hard at redefining travel commerce on your behalf.
